Updated Crysis 2 Box Art Released!

Box art pictures have surfaced on the web, but are not set as the official ones.  It looks as though they think it will have a mature rating.  The box art can be seen in the screenshots scroller!

NEW GAME DESCRIPTION ON THE EA WEBSITE!  "The world has been ravaged by a series of climatic disasters and society is on the verge of total breakdown.  Now the aliens have returned, with
a full invasion force bent on nothing less than the total annihilation of
mankind, starting by trying to rip the heart out of Earth's most iconic city.

In New York, terrifying alien invaders stalk the streets and a nightmare
plague strikes down the city's myriad inhabitants with brutal epidemic
speed.  The city's systems are in chaos, its streets and skyline are
smashed and in flaming ruin. This is New York City like you've never
seen it before.

Neither paramilitary law enforcement nor the might of the US military
machine can stand against the invaders, and all who choose not to flee
are dead men walking.  Just to survive in this maelstrom of death will
require technology beyond anything any modern soldier has ever seen.

One man will inherit that means to survive. One supersoldier, wielding
the combat enhancement technology of the future with Nanosuit 2, will
make the last stand to save humanity from destruction in the urban
jungle that is New York City."

Wondering who the story lines author will be?  well PCWorld has the scoop.  The Author is Richard Morgan.  Matt Peckham @ PCWorld quotes EA as saying "Morgan is working with [game developer] Crytek to bring his trademark visceral writing style to the project, which is his first entry into the video game medium.".

Richard Morgan is the author of Altered Carbon the winner of the Philip K. Dick Award in 2003, known for his Takeshi Kovacs novels, and the new Trilogy The Steel Remains.  This is good news for those of us hoping for a strong storyline.

EA Believes that Crysis 2 will be a Halo killer!

Those sound like fighting words, But will they accomplish it? EA thinks so.  When asked about the new Crysis game Gibeau told Industry Gamers that  "I can’t really go into any commentary on what we talked about when and how, but you know I think when we looked at our portfolio, and we looked at the L.A. team and how we were going to be investing long-term in the Medal of Honor franchise with them and how DICE was building 'Battlefield,' and then like I said before, we were trying to craft a Halo-killer, you know a product that would squarely go after what Bungie built with our partners at Crytek,".  And  "the 'Crysis 2' product is spectacular, very high-end, and is going to be a multi-year franchise, so at some point in the portfolio plan you’ve got, when you look at Crytek, DICE, Epic, the L.A. team building MoH, and then Respawn, you know we got a pretty damn killer team.".

Crytek executive producer Nathan Camarillo has revealed a little bit about the alien foes players will be up against.

Some of the Aliens will have the same abilities that the nano suit gives, they will be scaling buildings, jumping over you, and some the ones they are calling brutes in the article will be smart enough to destroy your cover if possible, or take cover if being shot at.  It sound like they intend to give us a good challanging game!

Finally some in-game Screenshots!  In both screenshots you get a glimps of what the in-game HUD may look like. In one of the images you are destroying a Crynet soldier, and in the other you and some Crynet soldiers are fighting off some aliens. The guys on MyCrysis where also sure to add "Please note that these screenshots are work in progress."   I for one think this looks awsome, reguardless of the "work in progress" status.
